Trials Evolution on the Xbox Live Arcade has been a request that many Xbox 360 gamers have been sending in as a game they would love for us to review. Needless to say, we were more than happy to review this little gem.
Trials Evolution is the follow-up to Trials HD, which won all sorts of awards as a hit Xbox Live Arcade game back in 2009 on the Xbox 360.
Trials Evolution is a motorcycle stunt game that is very simple in design, but complex in so many other ways. The big selling point here is the amazing physics engine that comes into play when you are flying around the tracks.
The whole idea of the game is to complete each track as quickly as possible without falling, sounds easy right? Not so much. You control your bike with the Right and Left triggers to control gas and brake, and your analog stock to control the leaning of your bike.
When you are flying around though high in the air, going through loops, flips, and so on, it is not so easy to keep everything balanced and keep the speed going.
Once you get deep into the game, these levels get tough and it can take dozens and dozens of attempts to get them perfect. You complete the game by earning medals, which unlocks tracks as well as more advanced biked. You are awarded bronze, silver, and gold medals which are worth more medal points the higher you get. Getting all gold though is not an easy task to say the least. Ghosts are included here as well so if your Xbox Live friend completed a track, you will race a ghost of them as you go through, a very cool feature to add some competition even when offline.
There is also the ability to race online if you want to go up against four players at once all trying to fly to the finish line as fast as possible, these get very funny so get a microphone on.
As you move forward in the game, you will be able to customize your rider, purchasing equipment as well as painting different colors on the gear you buy. This is all from money earned while riding your way through the tracks.
Another great addition here is the ability to create your very own levels to ride in. The level creator takes a little time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it you can create some fantastic levels. These user-generated levels can be shared, so you can expect there to be plenty of new levels for you to try out online whenever you please.
Trials Evolution is a fantastic Xbox Live Arcade release for Xbox 360 gamers. It provided hours and hours of enjoyment online and offline, and is a must-buy for arcade racing fans out there.
