Toy Story
3D Blu-ray Review
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment
Released: November 2011
The original Toy Story released back in 1995 and was an absolute smash hit, an instant classic from Disney and Pixar that led to one of the best trilogies in movie history. That original ciassic has now come home, and on 3D for the first time, on Blu-ray.
Touching on the movie would be truly a waste of time here, as we all know Toy Story, we all love the movie, and we know just how great it was and still is today.
As for the 3D quality, this is something I saw as a major risk on the part of Disney. This is not a new computer animated film by any means, as it is approaching 20-years old in just a few years.
With that said, Toy Story made for a great 3D presentation when it was viewed on Blu-ray by our review team here.
Woody and Buzz has never looked better than they do on 3D Blu-ray as the 1080p transfer is tremendous. The overall 3D effect is very well-done with good use of depth and plenty of pop to make the 3D improve the experience instead of it feeling tacked on.
The film jumps off of the screen with the amazingly vibrant colors, as well as the crisp and clear detail in not only the characters but the atmosphere as well. Tremendous stuff from Disney here to really improve a classic by giving it the 3D treatment.
Audio quality is equally as impressive as you get a great DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. The audio track presents the dialogue in an extremely crisp and clear manner.
Some of the more action-packed and fast-paced sequences are captured nicely as well, the Pizza Planet scene certainly comes to mind. Great use of the rear channels to create a theater-like atmosphere in your home, tremendous.
The release packs tons of value with the film included on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, as well as in digital copy form.
The extras are also plentiful as well with all of the great extras we have seen in the past Toy Story releases, great animated stories, featurettes, deleted scenes, and more.
The Closing Chatter
Toy Story has received a great upgrade to 3D on Blu-ray and Disney has hit a home run. This is the best way to experience the film all over again at home. With just how good this looks, I would not be shocked if Disney did a re-release in theaters down the line. Must-buy on Blu-ray, to infinity and beyond!
Final Score: 9.5 out of 10 Chatters
