Toy Story 2 3D Blu-ray Review

Toy Story 2

3D Blu-ray Review
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment
Released: November 2011

Toy Story 2 had the hard job of following an instant-classic in the original Toy Story.  It did so though with a level of creativity and flair often not seen in sequels.  A worthy follow-up, and a great film in its own right.  Toy Story 2 has hit 3D Blu-ray for all to enjoy at home.

Toy Story 2 is actually the favorite in the trilogy among many fans of Toy Story, and for good reason.  The film is tremendous and packed a very original story that stayed true to the franchise while evolving in terms of character development with Woddy, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang.

3D has done wonders for Toy Story 2 as Disney has done a terrific job in really bringing the viewers in with the effects and power of the technology.

Sequences such as the toys running with the cones over their heads, the scene in the toy store, all look tremendous in 3D.

The film had a lot to live up to due to the great animation of the original, but the 1080p transfer shows off what the film managed to achieve on so many levels.  The 1.78:1 aspect ratio looks splendid with great use of black levels, vibrant colors, and more.  Not much to complain about here at all needless to say.

The audio transfer is equally impressive with it being presented in a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mix, making great use of front and rear channels to create an engrossing audio experience.

The nice use of deep audio levels will put your subwoofer to work as there are truly some fast-paced sequences here that deserved this type of attention.

The audio transfer is even more impressive with the level of clarity in the dialogue, as crisp as it gets on Blu-ray.

As with the release of Toy Story and Toy Story 3 on 3D Blu-ray, you get 4 versions of the film in this value-packed release.

This includes the film on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, as well as in digital copy form.

Extras are very enjoyable with a series of outtakes, alternate scenes, deleted scenes, lenty of featurettes, as well as other additions from past DVD and Blu-ray releases.

The Closing Chatter

Toy Story 2 on 3D Blu-ray screams value with all 4 versions of the film being included here along with plenty of extras.  If you have the capability to play 3D Blu-rays, this is a must-own for any movie fan.

Final Score: 9.2 out of 10 Chatters
