Actress Hayden Panettiere says that she was drawn to play the lead character in the much anticipated Lifetime movie “The Amanda Knox Story” because it is a challenging role. She plays Amanda Knox, who was convicted in Italy in 2009 of murdering her British roommate Meredith Kercher, in the living room of the cottage they shared.
Panettiere is not sure if the character she is playing is actually guilty or not and says that there is a good chance that nobody will ever know the truth about what went on that fateful night. “It’s one of those really riveting stories where you just don’t know,” Panettiere says. “It’s like she’s innocent, she’s guilty, she’s innocent, she’s guilty. I can’t say I have an opinion, and I don’t know that we’ll ever really know.”
