It is being reported that a U.S. marshal has been killed in West Virginia as he along with other law enforcement officers tried to serve an arrest warrant to Charles Smith, 50. Smith pulled a shot gun on the officers when they entered his home and exchanged gun fire, killing one and also dying in the heated exchange.
Smith was wanted on cocaine charges, more specifically possession with intent to distribute. One of the marshals, whose identity is being withheld was killed, another is recovering in hospital and a third was treated at the scene but not taken to hospital.
