The nephew of the Dalai Lama has been killed on a busy Florida highway when he was struck by a passing SUV. Jigme K. Norbu was participating in the first leg of a 300-mile walk to promote Tibetan independence from China when he was struck while marching down a dark patch of road.
The man behind the wheel of the SUV that struck him is Keith R. O’Dell and because it was so dark on the highway charges will not be filed against him. The accident occured less than a quarter mile from where Norbu planned to stop for a rest.
