Chinese New Year 2011

Millions of people celebrated the new year around the world on January first, but in the country of China it is today when the new year begins. February third is the Chinese New Year and is a day celebrated by not only China but millions of people from all parts of the globe.

This is the Year of the Rabbit in China, and is an opportunity for the world to understand a little more about Chinese culture. In New York the iconic Empire State building was illuminated in red and gold to mark the Chinese New Year, and in Paris a colourful parade marked the occasion. Even Egypt took part in the festivities with a cultural temple fair in Cairo.
