A man from Texas by the name of Cornelius Dupree Jr. has been found innocent of rape charges after spending 30 years in prison. Dupree was spending75 years in jail for kidnapping, rape and robbery but DNA evidence has proven that he was innocent of all the charges he was convicted on.
The 51 year old has spent more than half of his life in prison, and is very thankful to be let go. “It’s a joy to be free again,” Dupree said. “Words really won’t make up for what I have lost. I lost both of my parents. I just feel that the system needs to be fixed.” “We need to do something in the state of Texas and in this country to make sure that this never happens again,” Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins said.
