Unfortunately for many people living on Long Island, using the excuse that they can not get to work because of lack of train service will no longer fly. The LIRR train service is not fully back to normal but is operating on a limited basis.
LIRR service was pretty much ground to a hault over the weekend because of the massive snow blizzard that dumped more than a foot of snow across much of the north eastern part of the country. Limited service has been restored on the Port Washington, Huntington, Ronkonkoma and Babylon branches as of Monday night and as more snow is cleared away more lines will reopen.
