Kroger Announces Massive Pet Food Recall

(ChatterShmatter) – A massive recall of pet food sold at Kroger stores has been announced, spanning as many as 19 states across America.

Kroger Co. is the largest US grocery chain, but right now, much of their cat and dog food maybe contaminated with a toxic chemical known as aflatoxin.

Aflatoxin is a type of fungus that is found on corn, that if ingested by animals can result in sluggishness, fatigue, diarrhea and even death.

The brands of food being recalled are Pet Pride, Old Yeller and Kroger Value food sold in packages that weigh between 3 pounds to as much as 50 pounds.

The recall affects Kroger stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia, the company said.

Consumers who may have purchased any of the effected pet food are being urged to return it for a full refund.
