Andre Johnson apologises for punching Cortland Finnegan

Frustration got the better of Houston Texans star player Andre Johnson during their blow-out victory over the Tennessee Titans yesterday afternoon.

He was being shadowed by Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan who took every chance he got to trash talk Johnson and hit him, both of which are legal moves.

The trouble began when the cornerback jumped at Johnson in the fourth quarter, pushing both hands into his facemask.

Johnson responded by ripping off Finnegan’s helmet, throwing him to the ground and punching him three times.

“He was mad because we exchanged some words,” Johnson said. “He snatched my helmet off and I snatched his off and it went from there.”

“I just lost my cool and I wish I could take back what happened, but I can’t,” Johnson told reporters. “I’m pretty sure that I’ll be disciplined for it. When that time comes, I’ll find out what it is and have to deal with it.”

This is the second time that Johnson and Finnegan have been caught up in a tangle as last year the receiver was fined for pulling Finnegan to the turf by his facemask.
