Washington (ChatterShmatter) – The daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley, Alexa Ray Joel, is recovering after an alleged suicide attempt.
Alexa Ray Joel reportedly attempted suicide on Saturday after she consumed an immense number of sleeping pills, 8 to be exact.
The 23-year-old was found by her roommate who immediately called 9-1-1 when she saw the state that Alexa was in.
Alexa Ray Joel had to be rushed to the St. Vincent’s Medical Center at around 12:20 p.m. on Saturday.
The daughter of Billy Joel was “despondent” according to police reports.
Law enforcement officials have stated that this was an apparent suicide attempt.
Alexa Ray Joel has since been released from the hospital and is recovering.
Billy Joel, her father, has commented on the reports and told Newsday that Alexa “is going to be fine.”
Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley had just one daughter before their divorce in 1994, Alexa Ray.
