Washington (ChatterShmatter) – According to a new study, a 5-in-1 polypill has been developed to fight heart disease.
The idea behind this new drug is to basically take all of the benefits you receive from a variety of drugs, and combine it into one.
So instead of having to take a pill to lower cholesterol, a different pill for blood pressure, etc, you can just take one.
Researchers carried out their work on the polypill on over 2,000 patients and were led by Salim Yusuf.
They discovered through their work that the polypill can be and is very effective.
The new 5-in-1 pill allowed patients to cut their risk of heart disease by 60%, and the risk of stroke by 50%.
This could lead to people taking just a single pill to control blood pressure, cholesterol, as well as heart rate.
The results were presented at the annual meeting of the American College of Cardiology.
