Washington (ChatterShmatter) – Japanese researchers have developed a new type of yogurt that actually fights and prevents stomach ulcers.
The yogurt has been made available all across Asia, and works by fighting a key factor in stomach ulcers, H. pylori bacteria.
Researchers revealed this new yogurt just recently at the National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The Japanese researchers tested the yogurt on a group of 42 people, with half eating the yogurt and half eating a different type of yogurt.
What they found was that the yogurt was able to successfully reduce levels of the bacteria.
The yogurt is being marketed under Dr. Piro in Japan, while in South Korea it is known as Gut.
The plan is to eventually seek approval for sale of it in the U.S.
