Hollywood, CA (ChatterShmatter) – Rumors have it that Paramount Pictures and Hasbro will debut it’s teaser trailer for the much anticipated live action film G. I. Joe this weekend during the Super Bowl.
Looking to capitalize on the bang and bucks from the smash-hit Transformers Paramount and Hasbro look to G.I. Joe as a franchise of the future. As a preview of what we can expect to see in the trailer the production has released six new movie posters of various iconic characters from the series and who will be presented in the film.
G. I. Joe was first released in 1964 with 12-inch figures know as “Action Man” and was later re-developed and re-released in 1982 as 3 ¾ inch figures depicting G.I. Joe characters who fought against the terrorist organization known as Cobra. The toys developed into an animated series which began in 1985 and featured all of the figures kids came to know and love such as Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow. The series also featured at least 27 public service announcements which all concluded with the phrase, “And now you know, and knowing is half the battle!”.
The series also saw an animated film released in 1987 to mixed reviews. Since this the franchise has had a number of failed restarts and redesigns but all have ended in failure.
The new film to be released this summer will star, Channing Tatum, Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans & Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The rumored plot of the film titled: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra will follow the adventures of the elite unit G.I. Joe against the arms dealer Destro and growing terrorist organization Cobra.
