Lawyers for New York Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez are confirming earlier statements made by his wife Cynthia to the effect that their marriage is irretrievably broken.

In his statement to be filed in court today, Alex reminds his soon to be ex wife of their pre-nup agreement signed before they were married, and denies having any sort of in-marriage affair.

The couple are heading for a nasty day in court, in which Alex is filing for custody and partial earnings he shared with her during their marriage.

He has also filed for ownership of the couple’s 12 million dollar home, something that his wife also wants to have.

He does understand that he should be paying child support, and has asked the court to name a reasonable amount.

According to his wife, he “emotionally abandoned his wife and children” a fact that A-Rod denies very strongly.

A-Rod is currently in a 10 year, 275 million dollar contract with the Yanks.

The couple share 2 daughters together; Natasha, 3, and Ella, 3 months.
