With the Venice Film Festival drawing near, we learn that 21 films will be competing for the Golden Lion award which goes to the best movie.
Overall Italian movies will be showcased during the 65th addition of the awards show, with less focus being put on Hollywood productions.
Some movies in the running for the top award include; “The Burning Plain,” “Hurt Locker” and “The Wrestler.”
Less focus is being placed on Hollywood made movies due to the SAG studio strike, but despite this fact 5 Hollywood movies are in the running for the Golden Lion.
Even Japan is represented in the competition with a number of animated films; The Sky Crawlers and Ponyo on Cliff by the Sea.
