A Malawi court has approved the adoption request by Madonna of a little boy from the country in southern Africa.
David Banda is the name of the little boy, who Madonna took home with her from an orphanage in the country. “We are very happy with what the judge has ruled. It is a positive and beautiful judgment that will have an impact on Malawi’s adoption laws,” Madonna’s Malawian lawyer, Alan Chinula, told Reuters.
There has been huge controversy surrounding Madonna’s adoption of the little boy due to many people thinking that the rules which state that non-residents can not adopt a baby, thinking that they were bent to allow for Madonna to do just that.
As far as Madonna is concerned, she is not happy to be wrapped up in this controversy, but she hopes that her story brings publicity to the plite of children in poor countries.
Madonna was not present in the court for the ruling.
Madonna is married to Guy Ritchie, and according to the judge, the two would make “great parents.”
