South Korean President Lee Myung-back spoke to the country’s first astronaut in space Saturday as she orbited the Earth on the International Space Station.

“I am so proud of you as you enhanced national prestige, and I will pray for your safe return,” President Lee said during a 15-minute video-audio linked with Yi So-yeon, Korea.com reported.

When the South Korean leader inquired about Yi’s health, the astronaut responded she was in great shape and would do her best to complete her mission, which includes several scientific experiments. Lee said he could see the Korean flag on her uniform, saying proudly “It feels as if you were very near to us.”

As part of the Russian Cosmonautics Day, the first Korean space traveler and researcher shared her Korean culture and cuisine with her American and Russian colleagues. On the weekend menu, the dinner included traditional Korean foods, which ended in a Korean-language serenade to her five international colleagues.
