Dolly Parton was the theme of the night for American Idol men who by all accounts, outsang the women.
“You’re a rocker, but I like how you’ve been showing you’ve got this unbelievable range,” judge Randy Jackson said following the performance of David Cook who sang Dolly’s “Little Sparrow.” “You made your own arrangement which was very cool. And once again another hot, consistent performance.”
All of the other men remaining in the competition, including favorite David Archuleta received high praise from all of the judges.
Losers of the night were definitely female, as the judges voiced their displeasure with their performances.
Dolly Parton herself who has been assisting the Idol wanna-bees to prepare their performances was impressed by some of their actual talent displays.
“I’m hoping he does become a star,” she said referring to Michael Johns in an interview recorded after Johns sang his song to her during a rehearsal.
