For anybody looking for a quick answer to whether or not they are the father of a child, the over the counter paternity test maybe for you.
The first of a kind test, which sells for less than $150 provides confidential results within a few days from a lab. It is created by Utah based company Identigene.
Each of the tests provide only one result and works by the application of a cotton swab after it has been swiped across the inside of the cheek.
Due to the tests being of a confidential nature, results attained from them can not be used in a court of law.
“Over-the-counter sales offer a completely new marketing channel for DNA testing,” Identigene Chief Operating Officer Doug Fogg said in a press release. “It makes the process more convenient and affordable while ensuring reliability and confidentiality.”
The test kits have already been on sale in California, Washington and Oregon on a trial basis, and from all accounts are selling very well.
