After news broke that Prince Harry had been deployed to Afghanistan it is now being reported that he is being withdrawn from the country.
For the last 10 weeks, Harry has been serviced in Helmand Province,
however over concerns of his safety he is being flown home in the very near future.
The prince is third in line to the throne, and because of this fact, there are fears that he may be a target for the Taleban.
“This decision has been taken primarily on the basis that the worldwide media coverage of Prince Harry in Afghanistan could impact on the security of those who are deployed there, as well as the risks to him as an individual soldier,” read a statement from the Ministry of Defence.
“There’s been an enormous amount of planning that’s gone on into this, and the fact that this was going to break was always thought a possible outcome and so plans are there – and I think people can be reassured about that,” added Brigadier Patrick Marriott, a spokesman for the Army.
Prince Harry was responsible for foot patrols as well as calling up allied air cover in support of ground forces. He was a member of the Household Cavalry.
