Women taking folic acid or any number of vitamins to ward off the risk of cancer should know that they are not helping themselves in the least.
Previous to this latest study finding, millions of women, and men for that matter would pop the folic acid pills because they were told that they were great at preventing cancer.
Well, news flash, this is in fact faulse!
Companies have even begun to ad folic acid into their foods that they produce due to the belief that the supplement can reduce cancer
The study featured more than 5400 female health professionals, all of whom at risk of developing heart disease.
Some of the participants were given folic acid supplements, the other given placebos.
“Combined folic acid, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12 treatment had no significant effect on overall risk of total invasive cancer or breast cancer among women during the folic acid fortification era,” the study said.
