Washington (ChatterShmatter) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new epilepsy drug, topiramate, from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.
The company, based in India, has been working to get FDA approval for the drug for quite some time.
Their hard work paid off as the drug won final approval from the FDA.
The drug, which is in the form of a tablet, is a generic version of the drug Topamax.
Theya re both used to help people with epilepsy deal with seizures.
Topamax, the name-brand drug, is from Ortho-McNeil Janssen Pharmaceuticals and has over $2 billion in annual sales in the U.S.
