Results of a new study find that light drinking during a woman’s pregnancy does in no way effect her unborn child.

Many other studies have came to the opposite conclusion, but this latest one conducted by researchers from University College London begs to differ.

The researchers state that drinking up to 2 glasses of alcohol a week is safe for the unborn baby and may in fact offer benefits.

Researchers studied more than 12500 3-year-old babies whose mothers drank a little during their pregnancies, finding no behavioral problems, as was predicted by other studies.

Heavy drinking by mothers during their pregnancies has been shown to effect a baby’s physical and mental growth.

Mothers are warned not to drink during pregnancies, due to a huge risk of fetal alcohol syndrome, a condition linked to behavioral difficulties and learning delays.
