The Race For The Cure was held on Sunday to help raise money for breast cancer in America.
The event was part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is a time for people to become more aware of the disease, through campaigns to recognize ongoing research into the disease, remember the lives of the women who have died from the disease and to honor those who have managed to survive.
Thousands of people participated across the country, and according to preliminary reports, as in previous years the event was a huge success.
In Denver this past weekend, one such event was held with officials touting early funds raised at more than 2 million dollars.
The money raised is directly earmarked for breast cancer education, research and improved screening programs.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related death in women the world over, only trailing lung cancer. It is estimated that world wide, more than 500,000 lives will be lost to it this year.
