American sprinter Tyson Gay is once again running pain free and fast according to his coach Jon Drummond.
Gay had not ran since straining his left hamstring at the US Olympic trials during the quarterfinal of the mens 200 meter dash.
Waiting out an hour long thunder storm, Gay, world champion, warmed up and hammered one set of 60, 80 and 100 meter sprints, saying afterword that he is pain free and thinks the break may have helped him.
“I’m happy with today’s workout. I’m injury free, no pain,” he told reporters.
He ran the set without using starting blocks and did not use a starter, and stated that he was just focusing on his technique.
Gay appears ready to compete against world record holder Usain Bolt and fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell. The 100m heats will begin next Friday, with the semi and final taking place on Saturday.
