Results of a new study find that restaurants like KFC and Subway offer meals for children that contain much more calories than are recommended.

The study was released by a non-profit health group and finds that in more cases than not, parents wanting to buy healthy meals for their children at restaurants do not have much in the ways of choices.

This is bad news, considering the fact that one third of kids daily calory intake comes from eating foods outside of their home.

Many children like to eat at so called fast food restaurants, and in the study of some of the more popular chains such as KFC, Taco Bell, Sonic, Jack in the Box and many more, rarely could children eat a meal that was low in calories.

The study featured the analyzing of 13 big restaurant chains and in the majority of cases, the lowest calory meal that researchers could put together from foods sold at those restaurants was 430 calories, which equals one third of the recommended caloric intake for kids.

The best restaurant chain when it came to offering a somewhat healthy meal for kids was Subway, largely in part to them not offering soft drinks as part of their kids meal menu.
