Most Sunscreen Products Do Not Protect Against UVB Rays

Nearly half of all sunscreen products currently on the market do not provide adequate protection from the sun according to the results of a new study by Mintel.
For their study they analyzed the ingredients of more than 750 sunscreen products, finding that even some of America’s top sunscreen brands are rubbish when it comes to offering protection from dangerous harmful UV rays.
Being subjected to dangerous rays from the sun can greatly increase a person’s risk of developing skin cancer, thus it is very important that if you are going to be in the sun for a prolonged period of time that you wear “good” sunscreen that will protect you well.
In the past, researchers have stated that it is important to get some sun exposure, as our bodies need vitamin D and the sun is a great source of this.
They have recommended that a person spend no more than 15 minutes a day exposed to sun light without the aid of sunscreen.
The study found that most sunscreens protect against UV rays but do not protect well against harmful UVB rays, also omitted by the sun.
Furthermore, many leading sunscreens with a high SPF protection, do not protect against UVB rays, thus when buying a sunscreen consumers should only buy those that protect against both UV and UVB rays.
