Apple have finally released an updated patch which will fix more than 17 security holes in their OS X operating system.

One of the most serious security risks that made users of the Mac OS X operating system susceptible was a DNS flaw, that according to Apple has been fixed with their latest Security Update 2008-005 patch.

The DNS flaw would’ve allowed for hackers to reroute traffic from the desired domain to one of their own choice. This means that a person would be rerouted from their desired domain, to a malicious one instead.

Other fixes are also found in the update, mainly for users of Mac OS X Server 10.4, Mac OS X 10.4.11, Mac OS X Server 10.5 and Mac OS X 10.5.4.

Many experts feel that Apple as a company, moved far to slowly to repair the bug, despite finding out about its presence on July 8. Cisco and
Microsoft, had patches in place almost immediately.
