Over this past weekend, a massive protest was held outside a radio station in San Francisco after Michael Savage, the host of Savage Nation made hurtful remarks pertaining to children with autism.
On his show, he referred to autistic children as brats who are just apt to make noise and act out because they can not get their own way.
“In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That’s what autism is,” he said on air.
He further stated that in most cases, parents are to blame for autistic children, and that the condition is being overdiagnosed by doctors.
As a result of his comments, many of Savage’s advertisers have pulled their contracts with him, but the radio station has not fired him.
The protest over the weekend was attended by parents with autistic children, politicians and people with a general interest in the case.
