Brokeback Mountain Will Become An Opera

Brokeback Mountain which began as a short story, and then was transformed into a movie, is now going to become an opera.
The award winning movie directed by director Ang Lee will be written into an opera by Charles Wuorinen.
Annie Proulx for those who are unaware, was the author of the short story entitled Brokeback Mountain that shot to fame when the movie was created. The story is of two cowboys who fall in love and develop a hard to understand complex romantic and definitely sexual relationship.
The opera will premier in 2013, as part of New York City’s opera spring season.
Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams and Jake Gyllenhaal, both starred in the movie and all received acting awards for their performances.
Ledger has since died from a drug overdose, but will be remembered for his stirring role in the movie.
