Paula Abdul Makes Huge American Idol Blunder

American Idol judge Paula Abdul is the brunt of many jokes as she has made a major booboo on the show by giving feedback to Jason Castro for two songs that he sang, thing is he only sang once.

The show switched up last night when it came to judging with the judges giving ffeedback to participants after all of them had performed in each round and this required them to take quick notes after each performance.

The Idol wanna-be contestants were singing songs from Neil Diamond

“Oh gosh, we’ve never had to write these things down … fast enough,” she began, shuffling through her notecards. “Jason, first song, I loved hearing your lower register, which we never really hear, um … .”

“The second song, I felt like your usual charm wasn’t — it was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty.”

How can something that does not even exist be “empty?” Seriously was Paula a little tipsy or what?

“The two songs,” she continued, “made me feel like you’re not fighting hard enough to get into the top four.”

After a nervous pause, it became clear to Paula that she was caught in a tricky situation, and the embarrassment was plainly obvious: “Oh my god, I thought you — I thought you sang twice!” she said.

Simon was his usual charming self, handing down a lot of lackluster support and a lot of criticism for the contestants.

Just so you know, they practice the songs once before the show goes on, so they had already performed both songs for her once already. If you look closely at the footage (I record it with my cable box) you can clearly see that there are differences in their live performance and the recap video at the end of the show. The recap video is recorded during their practice sessions, and then edited prior to the end of the show. So, she just forgot that she was supposed to “act” like it was the first time she heard both songs…not as strange as they are trying to make it.

…except that Paula wasn’t at the dress rehearsal (I was) and there was hardly enough time to review the tapes between it and the live show.

Apparently it’s standard practice to have fake judges so this excuse for the show doesn’t fly.

This week just underscores how the whole season has gone WAY downhill. It can’t be denied anymore that the whole thing is a worthless farce. I’m moving on. Watching paint dry would be more rewarding.
