It is being reported that a California high school football star has been killed in what police are calling a random gang attack.
17-year-old Jamiel Andre Shaw, who was described as “a Houdini on the football field” was shot just yards from his home on Sunday, after 2 men pulled up in a car and asked him where he was from, which according to police is gang talk for “which gang you with?”
He played the position of running back for the Los Angeles High School football team, and was the Southern League’s most Valuable Player a year ago.
“He was going to make something out of himself,” Jamiel Sr., his father told MyFOXLA.com. “All he had to do was get out of high school.”
Police are currently looking for the 2 gang members responsible for the shooting.
“He was a very special kid,” his football coach, Hardy Williams told the Times. “Not only was he an outstanding athlete, he was a good person. I’ve never seen Jamiel mad. He had such a big smile.”
A year ago, Shaw ran for more than 1000 yards, scored a total of 11 TDS, played a little defensive back, and returned punts and kickoffs.
