Asante Samuel Traded to Eagles
February 29th, 2008 | by admin |
It is being reported that the PHILADELPHIA Eagles have signed free-agent cornerback Asante Samuel to a 6 year contract worth nearly 10 million dollars a year.
He will surely bolster Philadelphia’s defense, who last football season only made 11 interceptions.
Samuel played the last 5 years in New England, and in the previous 2 years made 16 of his career 22 interceptions.
Samuel also tied the NFL career playoff record with three interceptions returned for TDs.
“We regarded Asante as the No. 1 available free agent in the NFL,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said.
Samuel was protected by the Patriots last year by the franchise player tag.
